Community

Page St. Sound Lab fosters an equitable music community by offering time, space, and resources for underrepresented artists to invest in their creativity, craft, and careers.

How?

We allocate 5% of every paid hour of studio time toward free or heavily discounted studio time and production services for local emerging musicians.

Why?

Page St Sound Lab is located in Albina, a collection of neighborhoods in Portland marked by generations of systemic racism. From the displacement of Native American Tribes in the 19th century to the devastating effects of discriminatory housing and urban planning policies on the Black communities in the 20th century, the history of the area we now call Albina is a tapestry of both cultural diversity and tragedy. We feel it is important to recognize this history. As a music studio, we want to play our own small role in creating a more inclusive, equitable, and diverse community .
